Tanks 1921. A series of photos from Camp Meade, MD. My guess is they were purchased at a P.X. at Camp Meade. They belonged to my Grandma's brother who obviously was stationed there. Everyone is long gone now so I've had to do all of the research on them.
Mark VIII "Liberty" or "International" tank and Six Ton Tank, M1917.
302nd Tank Center: Organized overseas February 1918 as 1st Light Tank Center; re-designated June 1918 as 311th Tank Center and September 1918 as (second) / 302nd Tank Center. GHQ unit with AEF November 1918. Moved to the U.S. April 1919, then to Camp Meade.
Camp Meade, Maryland calendar of 1921.
"G.I. Horseplay". My Grandma's Brother (right), holding "Automatic Pistol, Calibre .45 ACP, Model of 1911. The Sergeant, (unidentified), also appears in the passenger seat of the Liberty Truck photo (next). This is a good study of WW1-Postwar wool American uniforms.
U.S. Army Standard B "Liberty" Truck (Series 1) / Camp Meade, Maryland circa 1921. The insignia would appear to be of the "2nd Armored Division", but that was not formed until 1940. The passenger is in the "stick em up" photo.
U.S. Army Six Ton Tank, M1917(s) loaded onto Mack Bulldog Trucks / Camp Meade, MD. circa 1921.
Camp Meade, MD. circa 1921 / "Ready for a 30 Foot Drop". Mark VIII "Liberty" or "International Tank 67981.
Camp Meade, MD. circa 1921 / "After a 30 Foot Drop". Mark VIII "Liberty" or "International" Tank 67981.
